Fearing strike by Iran, Netanyahu seeks extra security for his son in America

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has requested extra security for his son Yair in the US.

According to Israeli media, Netanyahu is worried about a possible Iranian threat against his son in retaliation for the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in the Islamic Republic’s capital, Tehran, at the end of July.

Yair has been living in Miami, Florida, under the protection of Israel’s Shin Bet security agency since March 2023, at a cost of 200,000 shekels ($55,000) a month, according to the Times of Israel.

Director-General of Netanyahu’s office, Yossi Shelley, reportedly made the request for extra security, citing concerns that Yair may be targeted by Iran. However the Prime Minister’s Office later denied that a request had been made
