Ramezani, an experienced diplomat appointed recently to succeed the late Hasan Irlu, expressed his satisfaction with the formalities of the credential submission and committed himself to enhancing the diplomatic relationship between Tehran and Sanaa.
His appointment comes nearly three years after the passing of his predecessor, who served as Iran’s ambassador to Yemen until his death in December 2021 due to Covid-19, although some reports suggested that Irlu died as a result of a Saudi-led coalition air strike.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman at the time, Saeed Khatibzadeh, said that Irlu “was a long-time victim of the war that broke out between Iran and Iraq in 1980, and among those affected by chemical weapons.”
