Gaza man builds house using only mud, sand and flour bags
A displaced Palestinian in Gaza ditched his tent and decided to build his own house on the beach. Moataz Yahya Barzak, who was displaced to Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza, used around 1,200 flour bags filled with sand and mud to make thick, sturdy walls that would protect him from the elements. He will also build a 1.75m barrier to withstand the 'monstrous' Mediterranean tide. Barzak has already spent several weeks building his new home, for which the materials cost $300, including a mesh window at the front which gives him a view of the sea.
