Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York today, WAFA reported.
They reviewed relations that bind the two countries and peoples together.
Palestine’s wish to join the BRICS group and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was also discussed, with Abbas set to participate in the upcoming BRICS summit meetings in Russia at the end of October.
Abbas stressed that the State of Palestine will continue to seek full membership in the United Nations and greater recognition and stressed the need for continued support to UNRWA to enable it to implement its programmes and basic services, including education, health care, relief and social services for refugees, especially in the Gaza Strip.
