The Israeli occupation army this morning demolished a Palestinian house in a village to the north of Jericho, while a horde of settlers bulldozed swathes of land in Salfit in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Information Centre has reported.
According to local sources, Israeli forces with a bulldozer stormed into Al-Jiftlik village and demolished a two-storey house built 15 years ago. The occupation army claimed that the house, which belonged to Nael Bani Odeh, was built with no permits.
In Salfit, meanwhile, extremist Jewish settlers bulldozed swathes of Palestinian-owned land in Qarawat Bani Hassan as a prelude to annexing the land to build settlement projects. The area of the town attacked by the settlers is one of the archaeological, tourist and recreational highlights in the occupied West Bank, where horse shows, competitions and many social activities are organised by the local residents.
All of Israel’s settlers and the settlements in which they live are illegal under international law. The International Court of Justice ruled in July that Israel’s occupation is illegal and the UN General Assembly voted overwhelming earlier this month to demand that Israel should end its occupation within twelve months.
