Israel forces raid shops in Shuafat camp in East Jerusalem

Israeli occupation forces yesterday stormed the Shuafat refugee camp in East Jerusalem and raided dozens of shops there.

Palestinian sources said the army forces accompanied by inspectors from the Israeli-run Jerusalem Municipality’s departments of taxes, health inspection and building licensing inspected the stores’ licences and vandalised a number of them.

The Jerusalem Municipality crews hung demolition notices and summonses on a number of facilities.

During the raid, the Israeli occupation forces closed the military checkpoint at the entrance to the refugee camp completely, preventing Palestinians from entering or exiting the camp.

The Israeli occupation forces have escalated their attacks and raids against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since October last year, coinciding with a genocidal bombing campaign in Gaza, in which more than 42,000 Palestinians have been killed.
