Israel has been carrying out attacks on Lebanon’s Hezbollah without a clear strategy over the past week, Quds Press reported, citing Israeli media. This comes despite the Israeli army’s assertions of success in its battle against the Lebanese group.
In an article published yesterday in the Hebrew newspaper Israel Hayom, retired army Major General Gershon Hacohen argued that “the issue of Israeli strategy on the Lebanese front intersects with two fundamental questions: First, how will these achievements lead to the safe return of northern settlers to their homes? And second, how can these successes bring about the end of the war in the absence of a plan for a strategic conclusion?”
Israel’s recent bombardment of various parts of Lebanon has killed almost 600 people, including 90 women and 50 children, with tens of thousands forced to flee their homes in search of safety.
