Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani reiterated Iraq’s position in support of Lebanon to overcome its crisis, stressing that his country will not delay providing all the capabilities required to support its people.
Al-Sudani stressed “Iraq’s readiness to support Lebanon in various aspects to overcome this crisis through the political track or the humanitarian aspect,” according to a statement by the Iraqi government.
“Iraq called for an Arab and Islamic summit to resolve this crisis and take strong positions towards the aggression, given the failure of the international system to defend human rights in Lebanon and Palestine and protect the lives of their people,” he said.
“The Iraqi government will not delay in providing all the capabilities required to support our brothers in Lebanon.”
During their meeting on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly meeting in New York, the Lebanese prime minister expressed appreciation for Iraq’s support throughout the years, especially during this crisis, as it was among the first countries to send aid to alleviate the suffering of the Lebanese people.
He praised Iraq’s efforts to prevent the spread of conflict in the region.
