The Israeli National Security Council has warned Israelis against travel to 15 countries ahead of the Jewish holiday season and until further notice, Israeli media reported yesterday.
The council, which is affiliated with the Israeli army, has prohibited Israelis from travel to Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, saying the popular tourist destination has been designated a level 4 travel alert (high threat level).
The 15 countries that constitute a particular danger for Israelis to visit include Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iran and Turkiye.
The council also warned Israelis of the increased risks resulting from sharing information on social media platforms, saying anything that could identify the traveller “as being a member of or active in Israel’s security forces including regular service, standing army or as a reservist,” could put them in danger.
“Sharing any such information increases the risk that the person who shared it or is depicted in it will be marked as a target for attack. Therefore, we recommend to avoid posting any content in any format that indicates or refers to service in the security forces, military operations or any similar content,” it said.
This comes as Israel launched its largest attack on Lebanon in 20 years killing more than 620 people, including children and women, and wounding more than 2,500 others.
Israel has killed more than 41,500 Palestinians in Gaza since 7 October.
