Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani yesterday called on the world’s major powers to take responsibility, prevent attacks and halt the genocide being perpetuated by the “Zionist entity” against the Palestinian people, with the aggression now extending to Lebanon.

During his meeting with the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, Thomas Seiler, Al-Sudani expressed the Iraqi government’s appreciation for the stance of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, regarding the ongoing aggression and attempts to expand the conflict in the Middle East, according to a statement released by the Iraqi government.

In response, Seiler commended Iraq’s political positions on the international stage and its efforts towards de-escalation and preventing the expansion of the conflict, a stance recognised by European nations.

The statement added that discussions also covered areas of cooperation between Iraq and EU countries, alongside a review of the latest developments in the region, including the continued Israeli aggression on both Lebanon and Gaza.
