An Iranian spy tipped off Israel about the location of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah before his assassination in the southern suburb of Beirut, French Le Parisien newspaper reported yesterday.
The paper quoted Lebanese security sources as saying that based on the information provided by the Iranian agent, Israel launched air strikes on the area, which led to the death of Nasrallah and dozens of others.
The newspaper also noted that the biggest surprise in Nasrallah’s assassination lies in the role played by the Iranian agent who was able to penetrate Hezbollah’s inner circle and obtain accurate information about Nasrallah’s movements in Beirut on Friday. The Hezbollah chief was in the capital to attend the funeral of party leader, Muhammad Surur, who was killed by Israel a few days earlier.
