Some 86 per cent of Israelis are unwilling to live in towns and villages around the Gaza envelope after the end of the current Israeli war on the Palestinian enclave, a new poll showed yesterday.

The poll, conducted by the Israeli public broadcaster KAN, surveyed 600,000 Israelis and found that only 14 per cent of respondents said they would consider living in areas around Gaza.

According to the survey, just 27 per ent of Israelis believe their country has “won the war against Hamas,” while 35 per cent think it has “lost”. The remainder were unsure.

Israel has killed more than 41,900 Palestinians in Gaza since 7 October last year and displaced 90 per cent of the enclave’s population. The apartheid state faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its actions in Gaza.
