Extremist settlers attacked the village of Umm Safa, northwest of Ramallah, yesterday evening.

Local sources reported that settlers attacked citizens’ homes on the outskirts of the village, threw stones at them and set fire to the surrounding area.

Umm Safa has been subjected to repeated attacks by settlers coming from illegal settlements that have been built on the land of the village and neighbouring villages, in light of the ongoing settlement expansion, land razing and seizure of large areas of Palestinian land.

In an advisory opinion issued in July, the International Court of Justice deemed Israel’s occupation of the West Bank illegal and called for it to come to an end within a year.
