Iran is rapidly expanding a secret military site used for the manufacturing of ballistic missiles, intended for export abroad, the Telegraph newspaper reported yesterday.
The covert facility is used to produce and store missiles before they are shipped to Tehran’s allies, including Hezbollah and the Houthis in Yemen. Activity at the site, known as Shahid Soltani Garrison, intensified during the second half of the year, coinciding with reports from Western governments indicating that Iran has begun sending ballistic missiles to Russia.
The site features a collection of warehouses constructed around 15 years ago, alongside a newer network of underground tunnels. It is believed to house missiles such as the Shahab 3, a medium-range ballistic missile that can be launched from a mobile platform, and Fattah class rockets, which have reportedly been supplied to Russia.
The base is divided into two zones, the first of which contains at least five large warehouses, covering an area of around 6,500 square metres.
OPINION: Is Iran about to let go of its regional allies, from Yemen to Lebanon? Could it actually do that?
