Israel denying fuel to hospitals in northern Gaza, authorities say

The head of the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, has warned that all 3 medical facilities in the besieged north of the enclave will no longer be able to operate within 24 hours as they will have no fuel left. Israel is accused of stopping the entry of vital fuel supplied to the hospitals after it ordered their evacuation. Medics have warned that patients in critical care departments cannot be moved.

The Israeli army blocked fuel trucks from reaching hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip amid a military offensive in the area, local authorities said yesterday.

The Israeli army continued a military offensive in the northern Gaza Strip for a fifth day yesterday amid a tightening siege on the area, according to witnesses.

The occupation army ordered three hospitals to evacuate within 24 hours as part of the ongoing onslaught.

“The Israeli army has blocked diesel deliveries to hospitals in northern Gaza for the fifth consecutive time,” Gaza’s Government Media Office said.

“All hospitals and medical facilities are at risk of shutting down within 24 hours,” it warned in a statement, adding that this is a “fully orchestrated crime” aimed at undermining the health system in northern Gaza, where 700,000 people reside.

In a video released on social media today, the head of the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza City, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, warned that the situation will become “catastrophic” within 24 hours if the three hospitals in northern Gaza do not receive vital fuel supplies.

“We are facing a real humanitarian catastrophe if fuel is not allowed to enter,” he said.
