Israel has killed a Palestinian doctor and wounded several paramedics in an attack that targeted ambulances evacuating the injured in Al-Mawasi, west of Rafah city, and in the northern Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Ministry of Health has revealed.

In a statement issued yesterday, the ministry said doctor Ahmed Talab Al-Najjar was killed while trying to rescue injured Palestinians in the Al-Faluja area in the northern Gaza Strip.

According to the statement, the ministry’s hospitals received 55 martyrs and 329 injured civilians over the past 24 hours.

It added that the Israeli siege on hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip continues for the eleventh day amid an increasing need for medicines, medical supplies and food for patients and health personnels besieged in hospitals.

It pointed out that the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital continues to provide services to blood and cancer patients, through the field hospital adjacent to the European Hospital.

The ministry added that the polio vaccination campaign is now in its second day in the central governorate in partnership with the World Health Organisation (WHO), UNICEF and UNRWA.
