Egypt has condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli occupation regime’s bombing of a residential area in Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip. Dozens of Palestinian civilians were killed or wounded in the attack.
The government in Cairo also denounced Israel’s continued targeting of defenceless civilians across the Gaza Strip and its massacres, as well as the targeting of civilian infrastructure, including homes, hospitals and schools. It stressed that there is no moral or military justification for this huge toll of casualties among Palestinian civilians, women, children and the elderly alike.
Egypt also stressed the need to activate the mechanisms for international accountability, end the suffering of civilians in Gaza, and put an immediate stop to Israel’s targeting and terrorising of civilians and violating the most basic rules and principles of international law and international humanitarian law. It reiterated its call for the UN Security Council to fulfil its responsibilities to maintain international peace and security, warning of the consequences of the international community’s failure to intervene to stop the Israeli aggression.
