Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor confirmed that Israel deliberately killed 12 civilians from the same family, including five women and four children in Gaza, in a direct and deliberate shelling.

The rights group explained in a statement: “The investigation reveals that the Israeli army deliberately killed 12 civilians from one family during their displacement without justification or need.”

“The Euro-Med field team followed a video clip circulated by activists on social media platforms showing a group of people, including children and women, lying next to a cart in one of the streets of Gaza City,” adding that “field investigations led to identifying the victims, and it turned out that they were civilians from the Abu Al-Ain family, who were directly targeted by Israeli drones with two missiles while they were fleeing, in an area that was not witnessing any clashes.”

“About two hours after the bombing, the wounded and nine of the martyrs were transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza, on animal-drawn carts and a civilian car, and were buried with displaced people in the hospital in a mass grave adjacent to the eastern gate of the medical complex. The rest were buried in the Sidra Cemetery in the Daraj neighbourhood, east of Gaza City. On May 7th, 4 bodies out of 9 of the family were exhumed from the mass grave in the courtyard of Al-Shifa Hospital, and they were reburied in the Sidra Cemetery, while the bodies of the rest of the victims have not been found yet.”

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said: “Our investigations confirm that there was no justification or need to target the members of the aforementioned family, and there was no military target in the area. Therefore, they were subjected to a deliberate killing in the context of the ongoing Israeli genocide crimes.”
