At least 46 civilians have been killed and 44 injured in clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) over a 48-hour period in Khartoum and Al-Jazirah states, according to the Ministry of Health and volunteer groups.

In Omdurman, artillery shelling attributed to the RSF killed a young girl and injured 17 civilians, including eight children. Meanwhile, air strikes in southern Khartoum’s Mayo neighbourhood killed 20 civilians and wounded 27 others, according to volunteer groups.

In eastern Al-Jazirah, 25 civilians were killed in attacks by the RSF, with further injuries reported.

The Refa’ah Resistance Committees, a volunteer group involved in war relief, announced yesterday that RSF forces attacked the towns of Refa’ah and Tamboul, as well as several villages in eastern Al-Jazirah, and conducted home raids.

Imran Abdullah from the RSF commander’s advisory office claimed that the RSF has taken control of Tamboul. The Sudanese army has not yet responded.

These developments in Al-Jazirah come just two days after RSF military leader Abuagla Keikal announced that he had defected, along with his forces, and join the Sudanese army.
