Gaza’s Civil Defence spokesman Mahmoud Basal has said that more than 100,000 Palestinians in the areas of Jabalia, Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia are facing a tight Israeli siege and bombing campaign. They are, he pointed out, basically “trapped” there, the Palestinian Information Centre has reported.

“The Israeli occupation regime is killing anyone who tries to provide aid to the people of the northern Gaza Strip,” said Basal. “The fate of many people remains unknown as the occupation regime is carrying out the ethnic cleansing of the northern part of the Palestinian enclave.”

The Civil Defence official said that not a drop of water or bread has entered the northern Gaza Strip for the past 22 days. He slammed the inaction of the international community towards what’s happening in Gaza, especially the north.

Over the past three weeks, Israel has killed at least 820 people in the north of Gaza alone. It has also cut off water, food and humanitarian aid supplies, and prevented anyone from entering or leaving the area.

Moreover, Israeli occupation forces have attacked hospitals and other medical facilities in the north, and bombed shelters where displaced people have gathered.
