The Office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly requested two million shekels ($530,000) from the state treasury to undertake security upgrades at his private Caesarea home after it was hit by a Hezbollah drone last weekend, according to Israel’s Channel 12.

Channel 12 said the security department at Netanyahu’s office made the request as part of a series of measures to strengthen security defences around his home, amid growing concerns about threats to the safety and security of his family.

On 19 October, Netanyahu’s office said a drone launched from Lebanon had hit the prime minister’s home in Caesarea while he and his family were not away from the residence.

Hezbollah spokesman Mohammed Afif said the group was “fully and exclusively responsible” for the attack that targeted the home of “war criminal and leader of Zionist fascism Netanyahu.”

“Israel does not adhere to the ethics of war, and we hold it responsible for the safety of our prisoners in its custody,” said Afif.

He called the US “a partner in the Israeli aggression” against Lebanon and “is fully responsible for the massacres targeting our people.”
