The Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hamad Al-Khalili, has expressed his dismay at the “criminal” events taking place in Sudan while commenting on the killing of dozens of Sudanese citizens in a village in Al-Gezira State. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia is accused of carrying out the crime.

The Sudan Doctors Syndicate preliminary committee alleged on Sunday that the RSF massacred at least 120 people in the village of Alseriha last Friday. There is talk that the violations are ongoing.

“I was very disturbed by the aggression of criminal gangs against the Arab Muslim Sudanese people, after entering one of its villages and wiping out its men,” said the Grand Mufti on X. “Isn’t it enough for these criminal gangs and those behind them to see what happened to Pharaoh, his people and his soldiers?” Killing any soul that does not deserve to be killed as a punishment, for example, is one of the greatest corruptions on earth, said the Omani scholar.

“When will these people stop their crimes and learn from those who came before them? When will their religious, national and human conscience awaken within them, so that they put the sanctity of blood, the interest of the homeland, and the lives of people above anything else?”

Sheikh Al-Khalili wondered aloud about the role of the international community. “This matter is not unknown to the international community. It is occurring before their eyes and ears. Where is the Arab League? Where is the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation? Where are the United Nations and human rights organisations of the world?”

He ended by saying that he wishes that the latest news was a lie. “But I found that it has been confirmed from several sources.”

The Sudanese Doctors Syndicate said that it is following with great sorrow and anger the horrific escalation in the violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces against unarmed civilians in the east of Al-Gezira. “This area has turned into an arena of massacres and brutal violations, where the most heinous crimes against humanity are being committed, amidst the suspicious silence of the international community.”
