The Palestinian Ministry of Health has accused Israel of sabotaging the polio vaccination campaign by all means including “preventing campaign teams from reaching northern Gaza, and placing obstacles to implementation [of vaccinations] in Gaza City as well.”
In a statement issued yesterday, the Ministry of Health said the vaccination campaign is at risk, “which means the continued existence of the polio epidemic that will not only threaten Gaza, but also threaten the entire surrounding area.”
The ministry said it is looking into all alternatives to overcome the obstacles put in place by Israel.
On Sunday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the postponement of the polio vaccination campaign in northern Gaza was of particular concern as it puts thousands of children at risk.
