Jaume Asens, a member of the European Parliament, has reported that the Israeli occupation forces used tear gas against an international human rights delegation near Nablus in the occupied West Bank, according to Sama.
Former Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, who was part of the delegation alongside Asens, detailed the incident in a video shared on social media. She stated that the military targeted the delegation while they were accompanied by a group of Palestinians harvesting olive.
According to Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia, Asens and Colau arrived in Palestine on Monday as part of an international team to “investigate systematic violations of international law by Israel.”
In recent times, Israel has intensified efforts against humanitarian and rights organisations, notably the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). Earlier, the Israeli government approved a bill prohibiting contact with UNRWA, effectively barring the Israeli foreign and interior ministries from issuing visas to its staff, and declared it a ‘terror organisation’.
