The number of Israelis migrating to Canada has surged dramatically since the onset of the ongoing war on the besieged Gaza Strip on 7 October 2023, driven by escalating violence and political instability, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
The paper indicated that over 10,000 Israelis relocated to Canada in early 2024, with approximately 8,000 securing work visas — marking a substantial increase from last year. The primary motivations for this migration include a growing loss of confidence with the political system, heightened conflict, a diminishing sense of security, perceived social injustices, and a belief that the government is failing to address critical issues.
Between December 2023 and the end of September 2024, Canada approved 3,425 temporary work visas for Israelis out of 3,705 applications, as reported by the Canadian Ministry of Immigration.
The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed a concerning rise in the number of individuals choosing to leave Israel even before the conflict in Gaza escalated, raising alarms about the future of the Israeli economy.
