Jordan said Sunday that one person was killed and seven others were arrested in three infiltration attempts from neighboring Syria, Anadolu Agency reports.

A military statement said one person was apprehended after attempting to sneak into Jordan from Syria early Sunday.

The army said two other infiltration attempts were thwarted during which one person was killed and six people were arrested.

The army vowed to “act decisively” to thwart any infiltration or smuggling attempts through the border with Syria.

Jordan has faced hundreds of smuggling and infiltration attempts from Syria in recent years, driven by the deteriorating security situation in its northern neighbor.
