Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah said yesterday that Israel’s intensified air strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs and a building in the capital are a form of “revenge” on Hezbollah supporters and the Lebanese people, AFP reported.
Fadlallah’s comments coincided with the Israeli security cabinet in Tel Aviv discussing a potential ceasefire agreement, which US President Joe Biden later declared had been agreed by Israel. The truce came into effect at 4am local time (02:00 GMT).
Speaking while inspecting the site of the Beirut air strike, Fadlallah said that the “Israeli enemy” seeks to “exact revenge on all supporters of the resistance and all Lebanese.”
Hezbollah, he added, would continue to exist following its conflict with Israel, including supporting displaced Lebanese citizens in returning to their villages and rebuilding areas destroyed by Israel.
