Twelve were killed after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeted two villages in Sudan’s Al-Jazira State, doctors said yesterday.

In a statement, the Sudan Doctors Network said: “Twelve people were killed, and others injured in an RSF attack on the villages of Saada Al-Kawahla and Artimeili in the rural Abu Quta area of Al-Jazira State. Most residents of the two villages have fled, and their properties were looted.”

“The only health centre serving more than 50 villages in the area was destroyed, with all its medical equipment and drug supplies looted.”

Similarly, the Nidaa Al-Wasat group reported in a statement that the RSF attacked Saada Al-Kawahla and Artimeili villages, causing another wave of displacement. The group confirmed the deaths of ten civilians in Saada Al-Kawahla alone, according to the statement.

The number of accusations that the RSF has committed “mass killings” of civilians in Al-Jazira State have increased in recent days. The RSF currently controls large parts of the state. Officials from the militia group have not commented on the reports.
