Israeli occupation forces said yesterday that they had retrieved the body of Itay Svirsky, who was taken to Gaza on 7 October 2023, and died in captivity, according to a statement from the Israeli military, Reuters reports.
A statement from the Hostages’ Families Forum, which represents families of those being held by Hamas, said that returning “Itay’s body for proper burial in Israel provides crucial closure for his family.”
The 38-year-old was in Kibbutz Be’eri on 7 October 2023.
No details were given about the operation to recover his body.
