The Palestinian Forum in Britain has condemned strongly the ongoing security campaign by Palestinian Authority forces targeting resistance factions in the West Bank. The civil society organisation made its comment in a press release on Monday.
“This campaign comes at a time when the Palestinian people urgently require unity and solidarity to confront the intensifying Israeli occupation and its relentless aggression,” said the Forum. “At this critical moment, efforts should be focused on ending the unjust siege on Gaza and halting the genocide being carried out against our people there.”
The organisation pointed out that the PA campaign “directly contradicts” the essential national priorities of the Palestinian people.
“Moreover, these actions stand in stark contrast to the statements made by President Mahmoud Abbas, who declared his readiness to enter Gaza, even at the cost of his own life,” it said. “In reality, however, we continue to witness the tragic sacrifice of Palestinian youth under the guise of security coordination with the occupying forces.”
Abbas has in the past described such coordination with the occupation state as “sacred”.
The Palestinian Forum in Britain added that it is calling for the immediate cessation of the PA’s security campaign, which is “further fragmenting” Palestinian society.
“We urge decisive steps to unify the Palestinian ranks in the face of Israeli aggression and to pursue those responsible for war crimes in international courts. This crucial moment demands that we rise above political divisions and make concerted efforts to strengthen the resilience and unity of our people, wherever they may be.”
