The water tanks at the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip have been targeted by the Israel occupation forces, along with the hospital’s electricity generators and oxygen network, putting patients’ lives at risk, Ma’an has reported. Hospital director Hussam Abu Safiya described the situation as “bleak days” in a video posted on social media.
“The occupation army has deliberately rigged booby-traps in the streets around the hospital and targeted the intensive care unit using snipers stationed on the roofs of nearby buildings as well as quadcopter drones,” explained Abu Safiya. “The water tanks on the hospital roofs have also been targeted. There is a lot of damage.”
With the occupation army targeting civilians in their homes and gatherings, he pointed out that “dozens of wounded people” are arriving at the hospital every day.
“It is with regret that I mention the lack of any positive responses to our previous appeals to spare the healthcare system from being targeted,” added Abu Safiya. “There are 64 wounded and six cases in intensive care, and every Israeli attack forces us to pull patients into the corridors, threatening their lives.”
