The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) has called on the international community to act urgently and put an end to the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip, Arabi21 reported.

IUMS Secretary-General, Ali Muhammad Al-Sallabi, told the site: “The brutal and hideous massacres committed by the Zionist occupation against the Palestinian people cannot be tolerated.”

“This is unbelievable in a world whose main powers call for peace, stability and respect for the rights of people,” he said, adding that “what is truly unbelievable is that the defenceless Palestinian people, who have been besieged in the Gaza Strip for nearly two decades, and who have been facing a war of extermination for 15 consecutive months, are now facing deadly hunger due to lack of food, and deadly cold due to lack of shelter.”

“These are crimes committed not only by the [Israeli] occupation and its allies who provide it with money and weapons and political and legal cover to continue this war, but also by all Arab and Islamic countries that stand helpless to feed the Palestinians and rescue them in these difficult times,” he added.

Al-Sallabi warned that “continuing this absurd war that has achieved nothing but destruction and extermination and has entrenched injustices recognised by the international community against the Palestinians, can only lead to more chaos and instability in the region and the world.”
