Hamas has called on the United Nations to immediately intervene to protect the remaining medical facilities in Gaza from Israel’s ongoing targeting of health infrastructure and medical staff, Quds Press reported.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Hamas decried the Israeli air strike on Al-Wafa Hospital and the artillery shelling of the Baptist Hospital in central Gaza City as a “war crime” and violations of international laws.

It also denounced the international community’s silence about “unprecedented crimes”, genocide, systematic destruction of all civilian facilities, especially hospitals and the targeting of doctors and medical personnel in the Strip.

“We reiterate our call on the United Nations and its institutions to take immediate action to stop these crimes, send UN observers, impose protection for hospitals and medical centres, and hold this rogue entity [Israel] and its war criminal leaders accountable,” it added.
