A Moroccan lawmaker of the opposition Justice and Development Party (JDP) has accused the health minister of seeking to sign a contract with an American company to digitise health data in the country, making the data available to foreign entities including Israel.
MP Abdullah Bouanou added that Minister Amine Tahraoui has scrapped a previous deal to digitise Moroccans’ health data and is now seeking to sign a contract with an American company through the private sector which would make this sensitive data available to foreign entities.
He warned Tahraoui that the opposition will continue to monitor his work and criticised the minister’s cooperation with the private sector in the field of health, describing it as “a sector that is spreading like cancer.”
MP Bouanou called on the minister to focus on solving the health workers’ “problems” instead of being “preoccupied with other matters without making any changes that serve the sector.”
