The Syrian newspaper Tishreen yesterday announced that it had changed its name to Al-Hurriya (Freedom).
The newspaper said: “Because it is freedom… and because it represents the choice of Syrians as they turn towards a new dawn and a bright horizon, shaped by their boundless passion for their homeland, Al-Hurriya will be our platform, icon, and golden title as we strive for a genuine and warm connection with readers who seek both truth in meaning and authenticity in expression.”
The paper concluded: “Today, Al-Hurriya marks a new beginning for this deeply rooted Syrian newspaper. It will serve as a platform for every free voice and will stand as a symbol of committed freedom.”
This decision comes a month after the fall of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad’s regime on 8 December 2024.
