The Government Media Office in Gaza announced that 300,000 displaced Palestinians returned to northern Gaza and Gaza City yesterday.

In a brief statement, the media office confirmed that 300,000 Palestinians made their way back to Gaza and the north via Al-Rasheed and Salah Al-Din streets. This comes 470 days after the Israeli occupation army carried out what it described as a campaign of mass extermination.

The return of Palestinians comes as part of the ceasefire deal which came into effect on 19 January. Palestinians were due to return to the north on Sunday, however Israel refused to remove the roadblocks put in place then and delayed their return for 24 hours.
