Hamas has demanded the Palestinian Authority (PA) “stop the campaign of distortion and misinformation” after PA President Mahmoud Abbas’s office claimed the movement was entertaining proposals for a so-called Palestinian mini-state, Quds Press reported yesterday.
Spokesman Hazem Qassem slammed the PA’s “claims” and called for prioritising the Palestinian people’s supreme interest in these “sensitive and delicate times”.
“There are no such proposals except in the imagination of some influential people in the Authority aiming to distort the movement’s image, after the achievements it has made in thwarting displacement projects, forcing the Zionist enemy to stop its aggression, and achieving an honourable exchange deal,” Hamas said in a statement.
In an earlier statement, the PA warned Hamas not to get involved in “potential American and regional proposals for the establishment of a mini-Palestinian state and an extensive land exchange with Israel.”
