The United Nations yesterday carried out mine search and clearance operations in the Quneitra province of south-western Syria, Anadolu reported.
UN teams arrived in Quneitra with a large number of vehicles and specialised equipment. The teams conducted sweeping operations to detect landmines in areas occupied by Israel.
Following the collapse of the Baath regime on 8 December, which had ruled the country for 61 years, the Israeli occupation army intensified its attacks in Syria.
The Israeli military has begun destroying infrastructure and military sites belonging to the fallen regime and expanded its occupation in the occupied Golan Heights.
