Israel is set to release 90 Palestinians it is holding in its jails tomorrow as part of the Gaza ceasefire deal, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Information Office said today.
Of the prisoners, nine are serving life sentences, while 81 others are serving long-term sentences.
Earlier in the day, Hamas named three Israeli captives who will be released tomorrow.
Under phase one of the truce deal, which is to last 42 days, 33 Israeli captives will be released in exchange for an estimated 1,700-2,000 Palestinian detainees.
Hamas freed three Israeli and five Thai captives yesterday, while Israel released 110 Palestinians. It was the third exchange of its kind since the truce between Israel and Hamas took hold on 19 January.
More than 10,400 Palestinians are being held in Israel’s jails, including 3,376 who are held under administrative detention – without charge or trial, according to rights group Addameer. Thousands more have been forcibly disappeared from Gaza with their names and locations still unknown.
