Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said during a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, that Doha and Ankara are “ready” to receive Palestinians who have been freed from the Israeli occupation’s jails as part of the prisoner swap deal concluded last month between Hamas and Israel.

Al Thani added that the two officials discussed developments in Palestine and Syria and referred to the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, calling on Israel and Hamas to “immediately begin negotiations on the second phase of the prisoner deal”.

However, he indicated that “it is unclear when the talks will begin”.

Fidan arrived in Doha yesterday to meet with Al Thani.
