Egypt and Kuwait signed a military cooperation agreement on Sunday for the exchange of expertise in various sectors, Anadolu has reported.

The deal was agreed during a meeting between Egyptian Defence Minister Abdel Majeed Saqr and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Fahad Youssef Saud Al-Sabah, at the Defence Ministry headquarters in Cairo, according to a statement from the Egyptian army.

“The meeting addressed the latest developments on both the regional and international fronts and their impact on security and stability in the region amid current circumstances and challenges,” said the army statement. The ministers also discussed ways to enhance military relations between the two countries.

Saqr expressed Egypt’s commitment to supporting the prospects of military cooperation between the armed forces of both countries. Al-Sabah, meanwhile, praised the “deep-rooted” bilateral relations between his country and Egypt, expressing hope that the upcoming phase would witness more joint cooperation between their armed forces.

The signing ceremony was attended by Ahmed Khalifa, chief of staff of the Egyptian armed forces, and a number of senior army officers from Egypt and Kuwait.
