The EU will provide €310 million ($322.8m) in grants to Turkiye in 2025-2027 via the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) funding mechanism to boost the competitiveness of Turkish enterprises, Anadolu has reported.
Jurgis Vilcinskas, deputy head of mission of the EU Delegation to Turkiye, said that the bloc provided over €780m ($812.2m) to support Turkiye’s green transformation and that it will continue to support the green and digital transformations in the coming days.
The grant will focus on key areas of basic rights, environment, energy, transportation, education, employment and competitiveness.
Vilcinskas said that the grant will enable Turkish firms to transform into environmentally friendly and sustainable businesses and boost their competitiveness, while giving support to the country’s digital and green transformation efforts.
As for President Donald Trump’s threatened tariffs on the EU, Vilcinskas said that because the US is one of the bloc’s largest trading partners, they would rather avoid disruptions in trade. He made no further comments.
