The first shipment of mobile homes set out from Egypt on Thursday en route to the Gaza Strip under the ceasefire deal with Israel, local media have reported.

Five trucks carrying 15 mobile homes and a bulldozer crossed the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing into the Kerem Shalom (Karam Abu Salem) terminal ahead of being allowed into Gaza, said Egyptian television channel Al-Qahera News. The channel aired footage showing the trucks moving from the Rafah border crossing towards Kerem Shalom.

There was no immediate confirmation about this from the Palestinian authorities in Gaza, said Anadolu.

For weeks, Israel has refused to allow mobile homes into Gaza under the ceasefire deal to shelter displaced Palestinians amid cold weather in the enclave until mediators intervened to enforce the agreement.

The ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement took effect last month, pausing Israel’s genocidal war that has killed nearly 48,300 Palestinians and left the enclave in ruins.
