The Gaza Civil Defence said that more than 700 bodies have been recovered from various areas of the Gaza Strip, with most remaining unidentified due to the severity of their injuries, Palestine Today reported citing the body’s spokesperson, Major Mahmoud Basal.
In a press statement, Basal explained that the lack of available laboratories prevents the identification of the deceased. He also noted that civil defence teams have not received the necessary equipment to retrieve bodies and clear the rubble.
“More than 10,000 bodies remain trapped under the rubble, and the civil defence cannot retrieve them. This issue will remain unresolved until the required equipment is provided,” he stated.
Basal emphasised the urgent need for an international decision to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.
He added that unidentified bodies are being buried in designated cemeteries under the classification “unknown”, pointing out that “most of these remains consist of dismembered body parts or mere bones.”
He stressed that the issue of missing persons remains unresolved, prolonging the anguish of thousands of families searching for their loved ones.
