An Israeli drone yesterday launched an air strike near the burial site of former Hezbollah Secretary-General Hashem Safieddine in the town of Deir Qanoun Al-Nahr in southern Lebanon, Anadolu reported citing the official Lebanese news agency.

Israel assassinated Safieddine in an air strike on the Haret Hreik area in the southern suburbs of Beirut on 3 October 2024 just days after it killed the movement’s chief Hassan Nasrallah in the same city.

Hundreds of thousands of mourners turned out on Sunday in Beirut for the two leaders’ funeral procession, with delegations from 79 countries in attendance, including high-ranking figures from Iran, Iraq, Yemen and other countries.
