Saudi reaffirms its firm support for Sudan before UN rights council

Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the United Nations and international organisations in Geneva, Ambassador Abdulmohsen Bin Khothaila, reaffirmed the kingdom’s firm and supportive stance towards Sudan and its people in overcoming the current crisis and reaching a sustainable political solution that spares the country from the devastation of war.

Speaking before the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), Bin Khothaila highlighted Saudi Arabia’s significant efforts to resolve the crisis.

He noted that, in cooperation with the US, the kingdom hosted the warring parties for the Jeddah talks. These discussions aimed to ensure the protection of civilians, establish a ceasefire, and find a political solution that safeguards Sudan’s security and stability, preserves the state and its institutions, and prevents their collapse, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) yesterday.

The Saudi official stressed that the solution must begin with halting the fighting and strengthening humanitarian efforts for the Sudanese people, paving the way for a stable and secure political future that meets their aspirations.
