Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said that humanity will long remember what has happened in Gaza, as it represents a loss for all mankind.
Speaking at the extraordinary Arab summit yesterday, which was convened to discuss developments in the Palestinian issue, he said the offensive on Gaza has left a stain on human history, marked by hatred, inhumanity and the absence of justice.
“The children and women of Gaza, who have lost their families and seen tens of thousands killed or orphaned, look on with hopeful eyes for the restoration of just and lasting peace,” he added.
The summit was convened at the request of Palestine to coordinate positions and unify perspectives in response to the serious challenges facing the Palestinian cause. Discussions include an Arab consensus on a plan for Gaza’s reconstruction without displacing its residents and ensuring a ceasefire.
The meeting also addresses Palestine’s role in governing Gaza, halting Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, and working towards the implementation of the two-state solution — leading to an end to the occupation and the establishment of a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
