The UAE’s Federal Supreme Court has rejected all appeals submitted by the defendants in the case known as the ‘UAE84’, confirming the sentences issued against them.

This case, also referred to as the ‘Justice and Dignity Organisation terrorism case’, involves individuals accused of links to the Muslim Brotherhood, which is classified as a terrorist organisation in the UAE, through the establishment of the Justice and Dignity Committee.

According to sources, the ruling included severe sentences for several defendants, with 43 individuals sentenced to life imprisonment.

Additionally, five defendants were handed 15-year prison terms, while another five received ten-year terms. Each of them was also fined 10 million dirhams ($2.72 million).

The court also dropped the charges against 24 defendants, effectively acquitting them of all accusations.

UAE authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the ruling, but the case has drawn significant local and international attention due to the mass trial and the severity of the sentences.

These rulings are final and cannot be appealed, marking the end of a legal process that has lasted several months.

Since 2014, the United Arab Emirates has classified the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organisation.
