Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the Arab League’s endorsement of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip.
In a post on X, Sharif praised the Arab League’s firm stance in rejecting any plans to displace Palestinians from their homeland.
He also renewed Pakistan’s call for the United Nations to ensure the implementation of its resolutions affirming the two-state solution. This includes establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Arab League adopted the plan for rebuilding and developing Gaza during Tuesday’s Palestine emergency summit in Cairo. The Egyptian reconstruction plan for Gaza would cost $53 billion and avoids displacing Palestinians from the enclave, in contrast to US President Donald Trump’s vision of ethnically cleansing the Strip and creating a “Middle East Riviera”.
