Seven more Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation army fire in Gaza, raising the overall death toll from Israel’s destructive war to 48,515, the Health Ministry said today.

A ministry statement said that the toll included five people whose bodies were recovered from under the rubble in the last 24 hours.

The ministry said 14 more injured Palestinians were transferred to hospitals, taking the number of injuries to 111,941 in the Israeli onslaught.

“Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” the ministry added.

A ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement has been in place in Gaza since 19 January, halting Israel’s genocidal war that has caused widespread destruction and left the Palestinian enclave in ruins.

Despite the ceasefire, the Gaza local authorities report daily ceasefire violations by the Israeli occupation army. Israel has not allowed shelters, tents and caravans into the enclave to provide cover for the millions of displaced Palestinians, as per the terms of the truce.

Over the past ten days, Tel Aviv has also closed all the crossings, stopping the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza, and cut off the electricity supply to the enclave’s only desalination plant, leaving Palestinians with no access to clean water.

Rights groups and UN experts have said this forms part of Israel’s genocidal actions and is an effort to pressure Palestinians to accept Israel’s terms for an extension of the ceasefire deal.
